Wait..whaaaat, is this even legal? In Japan, apparently.

Besides staying away from ganja flavoured instant noodles, Ramadhan is about making yourself a better person.

I have a few resolutions :) I have a swearing jar, and each time I curse I’ll put in RM5 and at the end of the month I’ll give it to the mosque for alms. And to read the translated version of the Quran. I want to understand it, internalize it. Be a good person. Not just when it’s convenient for me, or I’m in a good mood. But be good even when it’s difficult to be.

What a view from the Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba. Worth the walk.

Nevermind the Fujifilm building, I liked the tug boats  the most.

A bowl of perfection.

Oh, the joy of eating a steaming bowl of (Tanuki?) soba after being swept away by the cold and crowds is something I can’t describe. This simple dish in a small obscure shop in Tennoji, Osaka was really one of the best meals I had in Japan.

Around Tsukiji Market, Tokyo.

The sushi was sooo good…The salmon sashimi was melting in my mouth, doing a little dance around my tastebuds. Om nom nommm…

I just started pointing at things, making sure they were seafood and just putting it in my mouth. “What’s that..dunno..let’s eat it.” was said many times that morning.

You want three wishes;

One to fly the heavens, one to swim like fishes.

You want never bitter and all delicious, and a clear conscience and all it’s blisses.

You want one true lover with a thousand kisses, you want soft and gentle and never vicious.

Edo-Tokyo Museum. So much fun unintentional learning.

I’m a liar, I’m not done with Japan yet. These old folks were so cute and enthusiastic about dancing. I had to post it. Also it’s because nothing worthy of a photo is happening, just daily routines (maybe therein lies the challenge?).

And with this, I say enough pictures of the land of the rising sun.

Japan, you are truly awesome.

Kiyomezu-dera, Kyoto.

If I had to choose a place to extend my internship, it would definitely be in Kyoto. So many things to see and do. I fell in love with the place.

Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto.

By the time we finished looking at all the love shrines etc. it was too late to catch a good glimpse of the other temples. We stood there, waiting for the sun to set and told each other stories of our childhood and hopes for the future.

“I was a weird kid, you see. I used to close my eyes and play a game where I’d list 10 things I can hear.”

“Well let’s do that. One, water. Two, bell ringing. You should start, you’re losing.”, he replied me with a big smile on his face.

We opened our eyes only to be greeted by the setting sun. It was only him, me, and a 300 year old temple. It was perfect.

Spider vs photographer in Roponggi, Tokyo.

That’s all for me this week. I’ll be sitting for my orthopedics exam this Friday, then a week off that will be spent camping in a national park near Kuching and delivering cutie patootie babies into the world (a prerequisite of 15 babies so that I can graduate. Let’s hope it was mating season 9 months ago!). Have a good week! Much love.

Walking the Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba.

I had mixed feelings about the artificial island of Odaiba, it was strange how everything was so perfect. It made me want to run around and vandalize something. But also, it was great how everything was perfect and ideal, even the fruits look like they were sent from the heavens!
